What's that noise

I hadn't taken my xc race wheels (tubeless Mavic Slr's) for a spin for about 2 months. As I roll off there is a noise inside my tire. Go a little faster, it's gone now. Slow down, back again.




After the ride I have a look inside the tire & here's what I found.

These amazing structures created from liguid latex. The one on the left was about 5cm across.

I must remember to check the latex in my tires more often ;o)

europcar are untrustworthy & ripped me off

I may get some interesting feedback on this one. The reason I haven't made this crap public until now is because I had given them the opportunity to fix this crap up.

This is my experience & how I feel as a result of how I was treated.

About 6 months out from the Croc Trophy last year I secured a sponsorship deal with europcar. Quite simply they were going to provide a 4wd vehicle for the period of the race & a couple of days either side.

Once a month leading up to the event & every week for the last 3 weeks up to the event I contacted them to ensure everything was good to go. The feedback was always yes, everything is good to go. Even when picking up the vehicle they were aware of the sponsorship deal as it was typed into the notes on my booking/account.

A few days after I returned the vehicle in immaculate condition (the comment made by the europcar staff in Cairns was "This is clean enough for me to hire out straight away") the farkers charged my credit card for the hire of the vehicle.

When I contacted them to ask WTF is going on, they tapped danced & said that things had changed.

So I drove down to The Grange to see the brand new Velo.net.au bike shop.

Let me start this story by giving you a little insight. As some of you are aware I worked at this awesome bike shop for a period of time.

I became aware that Shayne in his meticulous manner, spent his every waking hour (& I am sure sleeping hours too) plan every nook & cranny of this shop.

A comment he made to me one day "this shop will stand up to any bike shop in the world"

I walked into the shop & WOW! Even knowing that it was going to be something special I was still very surprised & impressed.

Dusk 2 Dawn 12 hour xc race

I love doing the dust2yawn. 2 1/2 weeks to go. It has all of the required boxes ticked.

• Mountain bike riding
• Riding at night
• 12 hours of cycling
• Eating breakfast on my bike

I have a sweet new bike, great lights, lots of kms in my legs so the fun factor will be awesome!
