Ty Racing!

Pictures tell the entire story of this mornings racing.

Ty 'rubbing shoulders' with one of the big boys of racing (Rhino is one of Ty's heros) for some great pre-race motivation.

A big thank you to Terry Bourne (Lockstock) & HPRW cycling club. They have always been so welcoming every time I attend their club racing. Today Terry allowed Ty to pop into E grade for his very first roadie race. 30 minutes + 2 laps. Ty was lapped only twice.

Ty finishing with with an out of the saddle sprint finish & a lunge over the line too!

Dear Mum

My mum had to phone me the other day. Why? Just to say hello because I haven't been updating my blog. Oops, sorry mum.

I am getting excited at going to Singapore next week. I have made my commitment to racing 24 hours in Rotorua at the end of March. Tickets booked & entry in. As you would expect there will be some big hitters racing in NZ.

My new 24hr racing machine is easily the best xc bike I have owned & ridden. The Scott Scale 20.

On the subject of new bikes I have been very patient in keeping an eye out for a road bike for my 9yr old son. I came across a 650c bike with an extra pair of bling racing wheels! It took him all of 2 minutes to work out the clipless pedals & cycling shoe thing. He loves it! I am about to see if he also loves the early mornings for training sessions in about 5 minutes :o)

My oldest boy is making wonderful progress through his early teens. He is learning to make good decisions & quickly knowing & learning from his not-so-good decisions.

My dear sweet Natalie is getting back on her two wheeled horse after being bucked off it a couple of times.

Every day is an awesome day, only some are more awesome than others!

Thanks mum
Love dog

Singapore Mountain Bike Festival

Like many of us I am a keen follower of Tinker Juarez. I was reading his blog & I came across a mountian bike festival in Singapore. One of the races is a 100km night race. The first xc night race every organised in Singapore.

Given Ay Up lighing systems sells lights all around the world this appeared to be a great opportunity to send a sponsored rider along to support the event & for some exposure.

So, my race entry is in & flights are booked.

12 hours...dusk to dawn

How awesome is this... Andy Fellows, currently the world champion in his age group for 24 hour racing & Andrew Bell is not shy of the podium either!

This is just two of the big hitters that will be racing this weekend at the Ay Up Dusk2Dawn 12 hour enduro.

There is a surprising number of solo riders in this years event which is always great to see.

I have my personal goals set for this event. They include a total km goal, nutrition goal & a technical/skills goal.
I am looking forward to getting out onto the dirt again for a race. Too much racing on tar lately ;o)
